Ellipse IPL Laser Hair Treatments
Laser hair removal has become an increasingly popular method for achieving smooth, hair-free skin. This innovative treatment offers a long-lasting solution to unwanted hair, and it is both clinically proven and widely regarded as safe and effective. Here we’ll explore what makes laser hair removal the preferred choice for long-lasting, fuss-free hair removal.
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal uses concentrated light beams to target and destroy hair follicles. The pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the light, which damages the follicle enough to inhibit future hair growth. This process is designed to selectively target dark, coarse hairs while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed.
Ellipse IPL Laser Hair Treatment
At BLS, we use industry-leading Ellipse IPL laser treatments which use enhanced technology to provide increased effectiveness and comfort.
How the Ellipse treatment works
A thin layer of gel (similar to ultrasound gel) is applied to your skin before treatment to ensure the maximum amount of light enters the skin. The Ellipse applicator is pressed against the chosen skin area and a carefully controlled pulse of visible light is released. Potentially harmful wavelengths and wavelengths that only heat up water in the skin are removed using patented Ellipse Dual Mode Filtering. The remaining light is absorbed by pigment (melanin) in your hair. Melanin converts the light into heat, which travels down the hair and heats the hair matrix, to greatly reduce future hair growth.
What areas can be treated?
Laser hair removal is versatile and can be used on various parts of the body. Some of the most common areas include:
- Face (upper lip, chin)
- Legs
- Arms
- Underarms
- Bikini line
- Back
- Plus areas bespoke to our clients
Key Benefits
- Precision: Ellipse lasers can precisely target dark hairs without damaging the surrounding skin.
- Speed: Each pulse of the laser takes a fraction of a second and can treat multiple hairs simultaneously. Smaller areas like the upper lip can be treated in minutes, while larger areas like the back or legs may take an hour or more.
- Long-Lasting Results: We recommend a minimum of 6 sessions with top ups added as needed.
- Safe: Laser hair removal is considered a safe procedure when performed by trained and certified practitioners such as ourselves! We offer a free consultation before any treatment where we will guide clients through the process, answer any questions and carry out a patch test.
What to expect
To help things go ‘smoothly’, there are some key things to be aware of before and after your appointment:
- Avoid the sun and sun-beds: Please avoid all types of sun exposure before and after treatment for a minimum of 30 days to minimise the risk of any complications.
- Avoid Waxing or Plucking: These methods remove the hair root, which is necessary for the laser to effectively target the follicle. We do ask that you ensure the area to be treated is shaved.
- What about my modesty?: Depending on the area we’re treating, you may need to remove your clothing but don’t worry, we ensure you feel safe and secure throughout your appointment, covering your modesty as needed!
- Will it hurt?: The treatment sensation varies from client to client but it’s rare for our clients to experience pain. Some describe the sensation as like the twang of an elastic band, which lasts seconds. This is normal but we continue to assess this throughout the appointment and can make adjustments if needed.
After your appointment
- After the Ellipse IPL treatment, it is common for the area to feel slightly warm. It is also common to experience some redness, local swelling and mild tenderness. These symptoms may appear immediately or a few days after treatment. The use of 100% Aloe Vera gel is recommended directly after treatment and for a few days after if necessary.
- Avoid all heat treatments such as steam rooms, saunas, hot baths, hot showers and excessive exercise and swimming for 48 hours after treatment
- Avoid all perfumed creams, soaps and lotions on the treatment area for 48 hours after treatment
- Do not touch, pick or scratch the area for 48 hours after treatment
- An ice cold compress can be applied if the area feels hot or uncomfortable
- Avoid exposure to UV light, such as sun beds and sunbathing for 30 days after treatment
- A high SPF 30+ should be applied when outside for 30 days after treatment. Excessive exposure can cause hyper (increased) or hypo (decreased) pigmentation of the skin.
